“Lettera 22” is a series of eleven 11” x 14” prints (Image is 9” x 12” with 1” borders) created using the reductive or elimination method of linocut. 

This print was inspired by amazing industrial design and a deep love of analog objects. This beautiful machine was designed by Marcello Nizzoli and coveted by Joan Didion, Philip Roth, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Sylvia Plath, and Tom Hanks.  It boasts “Bodoni” typeface, which is elegant, but strong.

If you are ever in Venice, stop by the Negozio Olivetti under the Procuratie Vecchie. If you peek in the windows, you might see this Lettera 22, which was designed by Marcello Nizzoli. But don;t stop there. Go on inside and enjoy a beautiful space designed by the amazing Carlos Scarpa.

Note: While the prints are all made from the same piece of linoleum, they contain variations in color and precision.
