About the image:
In the summer of 2023, environmental activist and recycle-artist Thomas Dambo and his crew built six art installations in an exhibit called The Way of the Bird King.
Vashon Island is lucky to host one of these art installations: “Oscar, the Bird King.” If you haven’t already, head to Point Robinson and search for him.
This 2-D depiction of Oscar was created in my studio. I carved the image of Oscar into a piece of linoleum, which was covered with black ink and transferred to paper using an etching press. The original image was then scanned and colored using digital tools.
