About the image:

“The Walkman” is a limited series of eight 11” x 14” prints created using the reductive or elimination method of linocut.

This print was inspired by amazing industrial design and a deep love of analog objects. The Sony Sports Walkman WM-F5 was introduced in 1983.  It was the first “splash proof” Walkman and the first to don what became a signature color for Sony.  It boasted FM radio, dual jacks, and in-ear headphones.  It retailed for about $100.

You could pop a cassette in this little beauty and listen to all the songs on the A-side before ejecting to flip it over the B-side.  Likely, you listened to an entire album several times before swapping it out for a new cassette.

When is that last time you did that?
