Annette Messitt is the founder of the Old Dockton Press on Vashon Island.
Annette is a printmaker. She creates traditional and reductive linocuts that she sells both framed and unframed. Annette creates all of her work in the Old Dockton Press studio or Quartermaster Press, a printmaking collective on Vashon Island. She uses an etching press, as well as hand printing tools, to create her work. All original works are limited series using oil-based inks on paper and signed by the artist. Eventually, these original works of art are digitally scanned and used to create cards, stickers, blankets, notebooks, and canvas bags.
The Old Dockton Press greeting cards and fine art prints are printed both in studio and through a Tennessee-based printer. The Old Dockton Press blankets depicting her work are woven by a company located in North Carolina that uses recycled cotton and prints on demand to reduce waste. The Old Dockton Press stickers are printed in Portland, Oregon and East Providence, Rhode Island. The printing for the Old Dockton Press canvas bags are sourced through a woman-owned promotional company called Clementine.
